Discover stuff nearby

• If you want to search for restaurants, stores, bars, etc., just type something into the Google bar at the bottom of the map, then click Search

Tip for searching in the local area

• The results of the Google search will appear in this area to the right of the map
• You can click any of the listed results (or a marker on the map) to re-center the map and get location info for that result
• Note that additional results can be seen by clicking the numbers beside More Results at the bottom of the result list

Get local transit information

• For local transit information, click the Full Map link, zoom in until you see the blue icons for nearby transit, then click them for schedule information

Get a local traffic update

• After clicking the Full Map link, click the Traffic control at the top of the map to see traffic flow encoded as follows:
      —— green roads have normal traffic
      —— yellow roads have slower traffic
      —— red roads have blocked traffic
• When you click the Full Map link, watch for icons that indicate traffic info (e.g., accidents, construction) or places of interest

Discover local videos and photos nearby

• After clicking the Full Map link, click the More control at the top of the map to select additional features, such as Photos, Videos, Wikipedia, or WebCams

Plan a trip from your location

• To plan a trip by transit, walking, or car, search for your destination using the Google search bar, select the correct result, then click

Get the full map of your local area

• For a full-page map of your local area, click the Full Map link — then you'll have all the Google map capabilities for exploring the area
